The PGA Tour and the Farmers Insurance Group of Companies has announced an agreement whereby the Farmers Exchanges will title sponsor next week's tournament at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, to be known as the Farmers Insurance Open. The agreement, which includes a long-term option, is between the PGA Tour and the Farmers Exchanges, which as a group, are the third largest personal lines insurer in the United States and the largest auto insurer in California. The award was created to recognize one boy and one girl American Junior Golf Association member who demonstrate leadership, character and community service through their involvement with the USGA-AJGA Youth Leadership Club - a joint initiative founded in 2006 to further develop junior golfers through volunteerism. Full Story | Patrick Cantlay of Los Alamitos, Calif., and Veronica Valerio of Temecula, Calif., both jumped into the greenside pond on No. 18 in celebration of their victories at the ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior on Thursday. Cantlay finished with a three-day tournament total of 7-under-par 209 in the Boys Division while Valerio carded a 1-over par 217 to win the Girls Division by three strokes. Woodward wraps up a three-year stint as manager of golf operations for the city of San Diego by hosting the 108th U.S. Open, June 9-15 at Torrey Pines Golf Course.
